London named best student city in the world for third year running
02 August 2021
London has been named the world's best student city by QS in the 2022 Best Student Cities Ranking.
It is the third year in a row London has finished top of the ranking, seeing off competition from Munich, Seoul and Tokyo. Other UK cities in the top global 30 included Edinburgh (12th), Glasgow (28th) and Manchester (30th).
The QS Best Student Cities Ranking 2022 combines data about a range of factors important to international students, including rankings, employer activity and student mix. Ben Sowter, QS’s director of research, said: “With two of the world’s 10 best universities situated in the city, London remains a world-leading educational hub."
To be eligible for the rankings, a city must have a population of at least 250,000 and be the home to at least two universities that rank in the QS World University Rankings. One of those universities is University College London, currently ranked 8th in the world, and considered London's Global University.
